Flutist Karen Kevra and pianist Jeffrey Chappell will perform “The French Connection”, a program of music by French composers drawing influence from other countries. Gabriel Fauré’s “Première Valse-Caprice”, the only solo piano piece in the recital, honors the Austrian roots of the waltz. Maurice Ravel’s “Habañera” and Georges Bizet’s “Carmen Variations” showcase a Spanish influence. And Louis Moyse’s “Introduction, Theme, and Variations” is based on a Japanese chant.
